Victoria West High School Takes a Stand Against Bullying During Million T-Shirt March
Last year, with T-shirts donated by SunGard K-12 Education, Victoria West High School in Victoria Independent School District, Texas, took a stand against bullying during the Million T-Shirt March. The Million T-Shirt March, which is now in its fourth year, is one of the nation’s largest and most ambitious rallies to address this troubling issue, which affects almost one in five K-12 students in the United States.
In the days preceding last year’s Million T-Shirt March, Victoria West High School held a series of anti-bullying events to focus students’ attention on this issue.
Last year, members of the school’s Anti-Bullying Club coordinated an anti-bullying pledge drive; those who took the pledge were entered to win one of the T-shirts. The pledges then were used to form peace symbols that decorated the commons area of the school. On the day preceding Million T-Shirt March, students watched an anti-bullying video in the morning and T-shirt winners were announced that afternoon. The week of activities concluded with winners wearing the shirts for the March on May 1.
